What are the attendance requirements of ELP?

Virtual ELP does not have any mandated attendance requirements, and our families are not obligated to a set number of hours per week. However, this is subject to change once school, and ELP, are able to physically return to campus and run an on-site program with our students. More information about the physical meeting requirements will be given as it becomes available.

If my child is in Virtual ELP, will they get a spot in program when school resumes in person?

Yes. The site lead has planned enrollment restrictions specifically for this reason. If your child has been granted a spot in virtual ELP, they will automatically be enrolled in physical program when Marshall Elementary reopens.

What safety precautions are being taken to ensure our students are safe during the Covid-19 pandemic?

ELP is entirely virtual at this time in order to keep our students and their families safe during the Covid-19 Pandemic. All materials distributed to our students are sanitized and only handled with gloves. The ELP tutors use masks at all times, and gloves when sorting materials for item pickup. Once we are able to return to school, we will be retrained on how to comply with safety regulations by FCSS, and that information will be added here.

My child needs 1 on 1 tutoring. Can they receive this in ELP?

Unfortunately no. ELP is not set up for a 1 on 1 environment. However, we can work to incorporate the academic needs of your child into our lessons. Please keep in mind that the needs of each student is unique, and our staff plans academics in order to be the most impactful for their students as a whole. If you have any academic concerns, please reach out to us at (559) 834-8299, or at afterschool.marshall@gmail.com.

What exactly are photos, videos, and surveys used for in ELP?

Media is used in ELP for the purpose of promoting the Expanded Learning Program to our community. Videos and photographs are always taken on program authenticated devices and are not shared privately between individuals. Surveys are used to identify student interest and help the ELP staff plan events and activities based off of responses. Surveys never ask for your child’s name or any other identifiable characteristics.

What will Virtual ELP consist of?

Virtual ELP will consist of 3 major components, each for about 1 hour per day. The components are academics, enrichment, and and optional hour of extra tutorial, where students can receive assistance on class assignments. On Fridays, the academic hour is replaced with a Fun Friday activity, in which students get to do something extra fun with their classmates online. Virtual ELP will take place each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, but you may feel free to reach out to the ELP staff any day of the week at afterschool.marshall@gmail.com. Please include the teacher’s name(s) in the email, so we know who it is addressed to.

Is there a disciplinary process for online ELP, and if so, what is it?

Yes. Online ELP has a 3-strike kick policy. This consists of an initial warning, in which the tutor will explain the inappropriate behavior. If the behavior continues, or is met with defiance, a second warning will be issued, in which the tutor will explain that the next interruption, or defiant act will result in a kick. If the student is kicked from the class, they will not be allowed to participate for the rest of the day. Once a child gets to their 2nd warning, a report will be filed and sent to parents via email, and the parent(s) will receive a text notification that the email was sent. If a student has a record of multiple kicks, they may be unenrolled from online ELP, however, once school resumes physically, they will be allowed to participate with ELP on campus.
