Mrs. VANG

Hello, I am Mrs. Vang, a first generation Hmong American college student. I am currently in the MFA program as a graduate student at Fresno State getting my degree in Creative Writing with an emphasis in Poetry. I have only been with Teaching Fellows since the start of this year but I hope to do as much as I can and learn as much as I can with my students. I graduated last Spring with my Bachelor’s degree in English Education. I want to become a creative writing and English teacher for all grades but specifically high school and college students. I have worked at the Laureate Lab Visual Wordist Art Studio with graduate students and poets Anthony Cody, Mariah Bosch, Tony Vang, and more alongside U.S. Poet Laureate emeritus Juan Felipe Herrera. My favorite foods are sushi, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and Vietnamese cuisines. I love boba drinks and will either be seen with that or coffee (but mainly water). I read and write a lot with poetry. My goals with my lesson plans are to get the students to be creative and be able to express themselves and their thoughts no matter the task. My passion is to support, nurture, and nourish my students and their growth. My favorite color is green, blue, and red.

MR. BAUTISTA

Hello, my name is Mr. Bautista and I have been with Teaching Fellows and El Capitan for a year now and I love every moment of it. I started first working a month before we got into quarantine which was heartbreaking because I got so close to many students but the zoom after-school program is still fun and eventful. The short amount of time I spent with new and old students has been uplifting in these trying times. The games and lessons we all do together make coming to the program every day worthwhile because we get to talk and laugh and forget about the hardships we all face.

I am enrolled in school to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, it has always been my passion to serve and expand the learning of young minds. I have been working in the education field since 2013, I took a small break to create a family of my own, I recently started working at El Cap in September 2020 and I love it, our program is so amazing and we have great relationships with our students. My hobbies that I love to do when I am not busy are running and working out, my husband and I recently became more interested in working out and have found it a passion of ours. I really enjoy playing with my children, which now is becoming harder to entertain them since being in a pandemic, but being an educator I come up with some amazing ideas. Thank you for taking the time to read about myself, I look forward to meeting you really soon! Go El Cap!!

I'm Ms. Fontanilla and I'm new to El Capitan Middle School! I'm from the valley and did most of my growing in the small town of Chowchilla, CA. I started college a year earlier than my high school classmates and graduated from Merced College with my A.A. in Social & Behavioral Science.
